We are located in the Southwestern Alaskan town of Bethel, entrusted with ensuring the health of a culture whose spirit of caring is equally as strong as yours. Join our fully accredited, 50-bed general acute care facility, where services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging. Your compassionate care will help to reinvigorate the health of the over 50 rural communities who come to us for care.
Position Summary: The Staff Physician shall be committed to contributing to our Mission, “Working together to achieve excellent health”.
Full spectrum, cradle to grave, family medicine services. Care for acute and chronically ill adults, well and sick children and complete pregnancy care. Patient panels range from 1500-2000 village patients.
Outpatient continuity clinics – including prenatals, telephone consultations with health aides in villages. Village visits 4-6 weeks per year (goal). Supervise and mentor students and residents, mentor and act as consultants for NP’s and PA’s. May do OB if trained & experienced, may do endoscopies, tubals, outpatient surgical procedures and C-sections if trained and experienced. May be asked to be a collaborative physician for PA’s and oportent to do extra inpatient/OB night shifts for extra pay.
Must have completed an accredited medical school.
Must have completed a residency training program and be board eligible or board certified (unless specific exception is made) by the appropriate board of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association.
Must have Alaska State License and DEA License.
Must have computer skills needed to access computerized medical records.
Needs the skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of their specialty.
Ability to supervise medical students, residents, physician extenders and community Health Aide clinical practice.
