Fantastic Pensacola, Florida Internal Medicine Position

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Our medical Group is the premier group in the Panhandle area. We have clinics all along the Gulf Coast. The group was started about 15 years ago by some local physicians that wanted to focus on the clinical aspect of medicine and not have to handle the business headaches of running their own practice. The group is a part of our Health System, but not a hospital owned group. Instead, the group is run by a board of physician that set policy, compensation, etc. This allows individual physicians in the group to have a lot of autonomy while also having the support of a very experienced administrative team.

Currently, our biggest need is for traditional Internal Medicine in which the physician sees patients in the office as well as rounding on patients in the hospital. In Pensacola, the office is located very close to the hospital and there are other Internal Medicine physicians in that location (set up in pods with their own staff and waiting rooms). They are share call with another group. Currently the call is 1:7. In Destin, the office is also located very close to the hospital and the call is currently 1:5. In both locations, we have a hospitalist program, so the doctors only see patients that belong to their group. In other words, there is no call for unassigned patients. This makes things very manageable for the doctor that is on-call that night.

We also have need for outpatient only Internal Medicine physicians. Basically this is a clinic based practice and if the patient needs to be admitted to the hospital, the hospitalist will admit them. These are in areas located too far from the hospital to make it feasible for a physician to make daily rounds.

In both situations, compensation is very competitive with a low base salary and incentive bonus based on production. One of the positives is that we pay on charges not collections. We do not want the physician to be penalized if we do a bad job collecting or if they have a bad payor mix (Although neither is the case. We are very good at collecting and we have a varied payor mix in this area). Physicians are paid real time; meaning that they get a check on the 15th of each month for whatever bonus they earned the previous month. We have found that this is very motivating for hard-working doctors. We also provide a very robust benefits package that includes malpractice with prepaid tail, medical, dental, vision, retirement, and much more.

TRADITIONAL PRACTICE. Office and hospital patients. Female Internal Medicine physician in Ft. Lauderdale is looking to add a physician to her private practice. She has been in the Ft. Lauderdale area for 20 years. She has built her practice up to 5 physicians and downsized all the way down to herself. She is busy enough for two physicians, resulting in her looking for another. Her staff includes 1 Nurse Practitioner, 2 Medical Assistants, and office manager, and scheduler. She is fully operational. She sees about 25 patients daily in the office, and can easily see 40. She does not want to turn them away, but refer within. Share call with her and other physicians she shares call with. All to be discussed with her. Walking distance to the hospital.

The ideal candidate will be a ’shaker and mover’. Female preferred. She must want to be busy and be successful. The driven candidate will have the opportunity to take over the practice in about 5 years. This physician is looking to pass the practice to the physician coming in.

This is not an employed position through the hospital system. The physician will employ the incoming physician, offer a 12-18 month salary, productivity incentives. More to be discussed with the physician. Foreign medical graduates welcome. Bi-lingual a plus. Diverse population. No visa candidates.
